The Story - 8 men/6 women

Dyin' Free takes place on a small Northern Maryland slave farm in 1859, five years before the eventual abolition of slavery. On this farm two men, the owner and the owned, are in search of two different forms of freedom. When the slave's plan of escape is discovered, drastic measures must be taken.

Significant, relevant, meaningful, challenging.... Theatre absolutely worth doing.

Dyin' Free performs effectively in large proscenium stages or small intimate spaces. The scenery can be suggested or real. Simple costumes can suggest the historical time period and the economic differences between and among the characters.

A well defined cast of supporting characters adds life and spectacle to this timeless story. The husband, wife, and son represent the slave owners. Two small families represent the slaves. $75/$60 Royalty
