Appropriate for High School, College, and Community Theatre

The action begins with Sonny and Jenna enthusiastically welcoming the guests (the audience) to their wedding.   One by one Sonny’s wealthy family and friends arrive… and not one has ever seen or met Jenna before… particularly Sonny’s domineering mother and stunned fiancé!  Mistaken identities, secret plans, unexpected surprises abound as the characters plot and pry to keep Sonny from “marrying away” the family fortune!  And of course… this IS a murder mystery… someone has to die!  And the audience HAS to help the clueless detective find the murderer!  Constant audience participation keeps the audience laughing and guessing!

What a Zany Cast of Characters!

Sonny Brookes             Young bubbling bridegroom, not an Einstein.

Jenna Montevell            Young attractive bride, sexy, warm, and intelligent

Ricardo Montevell          Father of the bride, elegant, articulate, cultured

Becky                          The Wedding Planner  – Very Beautiful and efficient

Gloria Brookes              Mother of Groom, harsh, demanding, aggressive, mean spirited

Bonnie Brookes             Sister of the Groom, purposely unattractive, appears very dim witted

Mary                            Sonny’s childhood friend, attractive and possessive

Brian                            Friend of the Groom – handsome and cunning

Bennie                          Friend of Groom – handsome and sincere

Frankie Missel              Detective – Overly dramatic – sees himself as a TV hero.  Intelligence is not one of his strengths.

Ralphie                         Frankie assistant/partner – Definite the “brains behind the operation,” very a feminine, probably gay.

The Minister                 Can be one of band members, an audience member or simply another cast member.

The Band                     Can be one person with a boom box, or a trio of unkempt incompetent people who really can’t play music.

    Wedding Song  is FULLY SCRIPTED

Consistency equals success!  Unlike many other murder mysteries, all dialogue, action, and audience involvement in our plays is very carefully planned and practiced.  Very few performers, particularly young or inexperienced performers, can sustain two hours of comedic improvisation with audiences of diverse ages and interests.  Even performers experienced in improvisation often cross that fatal line between "being funny and trying to be funny."  Being fully scripted to look wonderfully spontaneous insures that every performance of Wedding Song will be consistently truthful, entertaining, and connected.

But we do not have a Dinner Theatre Facility

You don't need one!  Wedding Song can perform almost anywhere!  School cafeterias for students or parents; private dining rooms at local restaurants; clubhouses at retirement communities; fellowship halls at churches; meeting rooms at local hotels.

"To Eat or Not to Eat... That is the question!"

With food; without food, full meal; maybe only dessert... the choice is yours.  The plays are wonderfully engaging and entertaining with or without food.  When ordering the scripts, however, please specify whether or not your production will include a meal.  Slight alterations in the words and actions tailor the production to your special occasion.

Feed Back from Recent Productions of Wedding Song

"Our dinner theatre was a HUGE success!  We sold out for our first weekend and oversold for the second weekend (having to limit numbers of large groups.)  The audience loved the show, and some of them really got into it with the questions and trying to determine the murderer.  The audience really responded to the interaction with the cast as guests of the wedding.  I believe everyone involved had a wonderful time.  My cast, stage manager, and I all loved the show, we all had a blast!  We've been receiving calls asking for the next dinner theatre production!"
