The Story - 5 male/5 female expandable
Falling From Trees requires a core cast of six characters; three male and three female and is supported by an ensemble of at least two male and two females.
One young man's father is dying; another young man's father is arrested; one young girl has created an elaborate fantasy world; one young girl who faces almost insurmountable challenges in her home life, one young man is mentally challenged.. all find comfort and security by hiding in the same tree on their way home from school; or are they each really hiding from themselves and what they know they must do? To grow up and grow forward each must eventually, "fall out of the tree" and into their decisive future. An inspiring story about self confidence, personal responsibility, and realistic consequences.
Teenagers look to their parents for security, guidance, and shelter during this important time of life; a time when critical choices and life directions are decided. Parents are the trees that surround young people with wisdom, provide a root value system to guide the teen’s decision process, create a canopy to protect the young from reality’s blind injustice and apathetic fate.
What happens when the needs, wants, ambitions of the parents become more important than the needs of the young people… When the parents are physical incapable or emotionally unwilling to help teenagers confront this challenging time of life.
Falling From Trees presents a realistic glimpse of six teenagers facing significant challenges to their identities and their futures without the help of their parents; one parent dies, one parent disowns, one parent deserts, and all parents betray.
